Parc Régional du Poisson Blanc – A Fantastic Outdoors Destination for all Ages
Located due north of Ottawa, in the land of the Quebec lake, is a park that is sadly (but not so sadly for me!) unexplored. The Parc Régional du Poisson Blanc was founded as recently as 2008 and roughly translates to the White Fish Park, and in fact white fish can be caught in nearby lakes.
If you would like more information on the park or to make camping/cabin reservation you will find the website here.

Geography
Located on the island doted Lac Cuillèrier, this park can be accessed by land but many sectors are difficult to visit unless you rent a canoe or kayak at the park parking lot and center at 37 Chem. de la Truite, Antoine-Labelle, QC. The park is filled with thick forest, hills and large boulders and rock walls.
Notre-Dame-du-Laus
Home to the visitors center, this picturesque Quebec village is home to the tourism center as well as a beautiful old church,
Activities
There is a plethora of things to do in the park here are just a few:
- Camping (On Island and Off)
- Canoe and Kayak Rentals
- Rock Climbing
- Fishing
- Hiking
Exploring the Park
I particularly recommend spending time along the water, especially on the islands. This area is also known for rock climbing and many of the best spots are only accessible by boat. There are several good areas to hit but sure to check out Echo and Elephant rock walls. If renting a boat, stop by the cabin at 37 Chem. de la Truite, to do so.
For those who enjoy hiking you can cross the wooden bridge on Poisson Blanc Road, due west of the cabin at 37 Chem. de la Truite. On this west side of the lake, in the rapides-du-fort-sector, you will find a hike up la Montagne du Diable (Devil’s Mountain) to a Belvédère (Lookout) with great views of the islands.
Conclusion
If you are looking for the perfect weekend getaway from Ottawa, this is the place. Not only is it not busy, much like its sister park the equally beautiful Mt. Morrissett, but is stunning. Get out on the water and enjoy nature’s splendor, it really does not get much better then this!
