Old Baldy Escapement
Rising 152 meters above the Beaver Valley farmland, this majestic limestone ridge is but one of many brows on the Niagara Escapment. Yet from far, especially in fall, one could argue that it is in fact the most impressive of them. From the ground, one can get a sense of this impressive massif.
A Walk Through the Woods
A four seasons pathway will take you up the mountain from the gravel parking lot. This is an easy trail with an estimated 15 minute travel time. Arrive early as parking is limited, especially in fall as the leaves put on a show!
The Ridgeline and Lookout
Finally you will be at the ridgeline where a spectacular view will await you!
From here you can continue along the ridge line edge where the crowds begin to filter out. There are several interesting geological rock formations, crevasses and outcroppings along the rock wall that you con hop on up into for an equally fantastic view.
In the distance the valley almost looks as it it was a giant funnel!
Anyway! Here are a few pictures of the fall colours. I hope you enjoy Old Baldy as much as I did!
