1000 Islands Tower – An Unparalleled View of the St. Lawrence
Climbing up a dizzying 130 meters is an ugly concrete tower, an attraction that has clearly seen better days. Not only is it overpriced, but it is a blot on the landscape. Howerver if you bite the bullet and head up, you may just enjoy yourself.
Once you enter its doors, you will find a gift shop adorned with strange attractions of time past, and places that no longer exist, like this strange humpty dumpty like figure.
After you pay, an elevator will shoot you to the top where a guide will meet you. In fact, he is the best part of the tour and the reason why the cost of the tower is worth it. The guide we had was an expert in the region and told us its history down from its geology and formation, to the important figures that populated the islands, to the ships and hydrology of the waterway.
Honestly, enjoy the view. You payed enough for it after all!
